Twenty-four hours later I was floating in the crystal-clear waters of Waikiki Beach with the most wild, wacky, spur-of-the-moment, knock-you-off-balance woman I know . . . my friend, Launi.

Launi finds humor in absolutely everything. From the tragedies in her life to the unexpected detours, she approaches every situation with an inside-out, upside-down perspective. In short, Launi makes me laugh.

Since that very first rendezvous, Launi and I continue to sneak off on these spur-of-the-moment tropical vacations far too often. We spend the balmy days solving the mysteries of the deep, setting the course of our uncharted future, and laughing to the point of sheer exhaustion.
