Ok. So...it's getting a little scary.
I look in the mirror and once in a while,
Right there in front of me, I see you staring back.
I always knew you were a little eccentric,
A true free spirit in your own right,
But I always thought I got Dad's genes.
Now I look at my self and realize that the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.
There's no denying it...
It's in my face... in my laugh... in everything I do.
But you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.
You taught me to enjoy life, to see the best in others
And to laugh at myself.
The best part is you will always be with me.
When you are long gone, and I am old and gray,
My kids will freak-out when they realize that
They, too, got the wacky genes.
When that day comes, I can just go look in the mirror
And, together, we can laugh ourselves silly.
